Learn – Skin Cancer  / What is UVA , UVB and UVC  which is the most dangerous and why?

 

UVA: 95% of all UV rays that hit the surface of the Earth are UVA radiation. UVA can even enter through windows and reach deep within our skin. Your skin becomes damaged by UVA, giving you a tan. It is the primary radiation source in tanning beds.

 

UVB: There’s really data that two forms of UV light raise the risk of skin cancer. The wavelength of UVA is longer. It is related to wrinkling skin. The band of UVB is shorter. It is linked to burning skin.

 

UVC:  UVC radiation from the sun does not reach the earth’s surface. As a side effect, the only way for humans to be exposed to UVC radiation is through a synthetic source such as a lamp or laser.

 

The most harmful type of UV radiation is UVC. It is completely screened by the air and never reaches the earth’s surface. Although medium wavelength UVB is very active, it cannot penetrate beyond the skin’s surface.
