Skin Cancer

Learn – Skin Cancer  / What is UVA , UVB and UVC  which is the most dangerous and why?

UVA: 95% of all UV rays that hit the surface of the Earth are UVA radiation. UVA can even enter through windows and reach deep within our skin. Your skin becomes damaged by UVA, giving you a tan. It is the primary radiation source in tanning beds.

UVB: There’s really data that two forms of UV light raise the risk of skin cancer. The wavelength of UVA is longer. It is related to wrinkling skin. The band of UVB is shorter. It is linked to burning skin.

UVC:  UVC radiation from the sun does not reach the earth’s surface. As a side effect, the only way for humans to be exposed to UVC radiation is through a synthetic source such as a lamp or laser.

The most harmful type of UV radiation is UVC. It is completely screened by the air and never reaches the earth’s surface. Although medium wavelength UVB is very active, it cannot penetrate beyond the skin’s surface.

-Why do the UV rays of the sun change during the day ?

Depending on the sun , The higher the sun gets the higher the UV Radiation Gets , Mostly the sun gets higher In the afternoon 10am to 4pm , In summer the UVR Levels are around 40% higher.

-What are the times when UV rays of the sun are most dangerous in Nz?

The sun is still most strong between 10 and noon. and 4 p.m. Reduce spending time in the sun during such hours, especially at greater levels and even in the winter. Stop burning. The lifelong risk of developing skin cancer is doubled by sunburns

-what affects UV radiation ?

Multiple factors, including the time of day, weather, cloud cover, altitude, location, and nearby surfaces, have an effect on the UV level.

-what is the UVNZ app?

UVNZ App Provides UVI Forecasts for locations across New zealand , Tells us the current UVI

(with or without) showing us how the UVI will change over the day .

what different type of radiation does the sun send

The radio wave band is a broad range of energy that includes all of the sun’s energy that reaches the Earth as solar radiation. Daylight, ultraviolet rays, heat, radio waves, X-rays, and gamma rays are all kinds of solar radiation.

Embedding learning into our Blogs

By Genevieve

There are lots of different types of digital learning objects we embed into our blogs on a daily basis.

My favorite thing to share on my blog is My work

The easiest learning to share is my writing in Google Docs, simply just Copy and Paste it from the Google Doc onto your blog. However, don’t forget to use CTRL + SHIFT + V so that it gets rid of the formatting. You can always change the formatting on your blog.

Take a look at the other ways below
